Success - Replicability
Replicability can be viewed from two complementary perspectives, at the overall Programme level, or in relation to individual projects.
Replicating Programme features
ICT4D is a relative new field in most countries, so the potential for replicability of the HIVOS-IICD Programme is in principle very high. Specific aspects of the CPs that stand out in terms of replicability potential are (i) its Capacity Development activities, (ii) the Roundtable processes, and (iii) bulding up institutional networks.
Replicability at the project level
The experiences to be replicated could be theme-specific, like agriculture or environment. And they also could refer to operational issues, like mainstreaming ICT, networking or knowledge management. To illustrate some of the possibilities:
- Experiences on the use of ICT in such topics as organic farming, or microfinance, which are fields of activity for HIVOS around the world, could be systematized and shared among other local partners.
- Gaining first-hand practical knowledge from specific projects about how to effectively integrate (or mainstream) ICT into local partners could serve HIVOS if it attempted to do so at a larger scale (for a entire country, or perhaps even at regional level)
- Capacity development content, such as training modules on web-site design, e-newsletters, information systematization or blogging, could be adapted and used in other countries or places, since they are already tried and tested.
