HIVOS-IICD Programme Objectives

The Programme described by the MoU contained 9 objectives, which as explained later on have been largely accomplished:

  • The organisation of 2 Country Programmes with focus on Zambia and Ecuador.
  • The joint submission to the EU of a grant-funding for the Bolivia CP1.
  • The development of viable and sustainable project proposals by HIVOS project partners through the assistance of the IICD CP Team
  • The provision of a seed capital fund to provide start-up financing for project partners’ activities.
  • ICT skills training received by project partners to carry out their project, through workshops and courses conducted by IICD’s local training partners.
  • Generation of publicity and awareness around the project partners’ activities through the national Information Networks which are an integral part of the CPs.
  • Monitoring and evaluation for development impact and effectiveness of all project activities in the CPs using IICD’s M&E methodology.
  • Participation of selected project partners from these CPs in IICD’s international Thematic Networks.
  • Promotion of the HIVOS - IICD partnership in national and international fora.

To enable the fulfilment of these objectives, HIVOS provided 600.000€ from an initial commitment, plus an additional 100.000€ for Bolivia. IICD budgeted a similar amount, mostly in the form of staff time (in the two countries plus in HQ).
